Fade To Black Documentary - Jay-Z

To help conquer my jealousy and sadness for not being in attendance for Jay-Z's recent shows at Yankee Stadium, I decided to watch the documentary of his first big New York show. "Fade to Black" documents the most memorable moments from his MSG concert along with including some of the "in studio" scenes of him and various producers creating some of the tracks that we all could not live without today. Jay-Z's 2004 MSG show was supposed to be his last with the announcement of his retirement, so he went big with bringing artists R.Kelly, Ghostface Killah, Mary J. Blige amoung many others on stage with him. As we know, it was all history from there.

This is one of my favorite clips from the documentary that captures the interaction between a relatively unknown artist at the time named Kanye and Jay during the production of "Lucifer". Within this clip you will hear a familiar sample that Kanye went on to use in his College Dropout album for the "Last Call" as well as this crazy sample called "The Worm" at the beginning of the clip. Watch Jay's facial expression haha.

If want to watch the docu again or for the first time you can get it here.
