Julia: Jake Davis Test Shots

Jake Davis Test Shots: Julia Ashwood from Jake Davis on Vimeo.

Jake Davis is one of the world's premier short film and music video filmakers. Every so often he updates his blog with these "test shot" pieces that are always brilliantly done. Meet Julia Ashwood:

Keep it simple... To me the best part of Julia's look is the high-top black chucks. But then again I love The Ramones and Kurt Cobain.

Whether it's design or style to me less is always more. And sometimes it's the simplest most timeless piece dressed down that grabs our attention and makes an outfit feel new and fresh. That shouldn't make any sense but somehow it does...

The Carter Documentary

One of my favorite music documentaries in a long time, The Carter is Lil' Wayne's story that takes place during the months of the release of the his very successful record, Tha Carter III. How successful you ask? Well he sold more 1 million copies in the first week. The film captures Wayne talking about his drug habits, his famous 'syrup' drink and the music industry all done without any one on one interviews with the films producers. You can get it here.

Watch Downloaded Movies on Your Home Theater With Connect360

Downloading and watching movies on my mac is one of my favorite things to do to relax, but it is not the same as watching them on your home theater system. Problem solved. If you have a Xbox 360 and a Mac you can do just that with the use of Nullriver's Connect360 application. The idea behind Connect360 is to literally trick your Microsoft Xbox 360 into believing that your Mac computer connected to it is actually a Windows computer. Connect360 is extremely easy to set up and only costs $20, which makes it a must have for any movie junkie. In addition to watching movies, Connect 360 allows you to share music and photos via your home theater system. You can get it here.

Air Max 24-7 Neon

Nike always does a pretty good job of mixing their classic sneakers into new creations. Probably what I believe is their best yet, is the Air Max 24-7, which combines the Air Max 95 and 97 uppers and placing them on the Air Max 360 sole unit...Fire. You should see them in stores real soon.

Punk is Back in the Mainstream

Two things I've noticed lately in celebrity fashion are the return of metal studs and leather vests. The studs were first seen in many Christian Louboutin's latest shoes worn by celebrities such as Kanye, Rihanna and Pharrell. Leather vests have been spotted on the likes of Jay-Z and Fabolous. Check out Jay's performance on SNL here, when he combined the two.

Nike Air Lunar

Nike's latest Frankenstein shoe mixes the Air Max 180 with a Lunar sole to create the Air Lunar. This shoe will be super comfy and lightweight. I won't lie, I'm sick of this colorway. I know it's OG, but Nike needs to change it up and do something new.

We Live In Public is a documentary about one if the internet's first pioneers, Josh Harris. At this pinnacle, Josh was worth over $80 million dollars only to see it all fade away as he broadcast his life 24hrs over the web. Winner of the Grand Jury Documentary Prize at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, you can rent or buy We Live In Public on iTunes.
